Çanakkale houses will be promoted through a series of photography exhibitions scheduled for three German states starting in October.

Sponsored by the municipality of Çanakkale the exhibition Çanakkale Houses from Troy to Present will open on Oct. 17 in Osnabrück in an effort to promote the 5,000-year history of the city’s architecture. Speaking to the Anatolia news agency, Çanakkale Deputy Mayor Remzi YiÄŸit said the exhibition features photographs of old and newly built structures in Çanakkale chosen from among 4,000 slides. He said the promotional materials and documents used in the exhibition were prepared in both Turkish and German, adding that some drawing techniques were employed to increase the visual impact of the photographs.

Noting that the event was important in terms of promoting Çanakkale in Europe, YiÄŸit said: The exhibition was also held in Istanbul last year as part of the World Architecture Congress. As the Çanakkale Municipality, we place importance on preserving the cultural and historical wealth of our city. The exhibition features the similarity between the ancient city of Troy and today’s Çanakkale in terms of architecture. We believe the exhibition will contribute to the promotion of Çanakkale abroad, he added.

The event will later move to Tübingen and Munich and be open to visitors for three months.
