Easy Floor Plan Creation and Social Design Tools Put Power in Consumers’ Hands
February 1st, 2007 - Posted in Architecture, General News, Home ImprovementDesignIn, Inc. today unveiled MyDesignIn (www.mydesignin.com), a first-of-its-kind social design and planning Web site that combines conceptual home design tools and patent- pending product bookmarking to allow consumers to create interactive blueprints. MyDesignIn.com, launched in private beta today, is created for homeowners who plan to remodel and want to visualize and organize their projects. MyDesignIn makes home design easy by connecting users with unlimited brand name products and a community of vendors, professional designers and homeowners.
“The typical homeowner spends months planning a remodeling project before they even meet with an architect or a contractor. They typically rely on an unorganized collection of pages torn out from magazines and catalogs, lengthy Internet “favorites” lists and sketches of designs that are not to scale,” said Ramsay Hoguet, founder and CEO of DesignIn, Inc. “MyDesignIn makes home design an easy and collaborative process, allowing anyone to streamline the remodeling process and leverage the product research and design ideas of the community.”
With MyDesignIn, consumers can:
— Collect: Use bookmarking tools to clip home products and design
ideas from any Web site. Capture a visual bookmark complete with a
product image, name, abbreviated description, sizing information and
price.
— Create: Easily draw an interactive blueprint with just a few clicks.
Drag and drop bookmarked products into the blueprint for
visualization of a complete design.
— Collaborate: Share interactive blueprints with friends, family,
design professionals and other community members before making final
design and purchasing decisions. Leverage the work of the community
to get product research and design ideas quickly and easily.
“We are excited to have MyDesignIn launch at DEMO,” said DEMO Executive Producer Chris Shipley. “In line with the DEMO 07 theme, MyDesignIn’s technology empowers individuals to plan their dream homes and become published architects and interior designers.”
MyDesignIn will use a cost-per-action (CPA) platform to offer advertisers multiple embedded, highly-targeted channels such as sponsored ads for service providers, and innovative “drag-and-drop” ads for product manufacturers. “Drag-and-drop” ads will allow users to browse a manufacturer directory and incorporate two-dimensional representations of products into designs for true visualization, significantly increasing the likelihood of a purchase. Advertisers on MyDesignIn can use the number of times their products are incorporated into users’ designs to determine their return on investment-a much more accurate and targeted measurement than clickthroughs.
