Nationally-known Design Star Vern Yip to appear at Capital Home & Garden Show
February 14th, 2007 - Posted in Architecture, Construction Loan, General News, Home ImprovementKnown to a legion of cable television do-it-yourself viewers from his work on TLC’s Trading Spaces and the hot, new HGTV show, Design Star, multi-talented designer Vern Yip will return to his McLean roots for a two-day appearance at the popular Capital Home & Garden Show Feb. 23 and 24 at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. Vern will share his extensive knowledge about the latest design trends, plus dish on his TV experiences during presentations scheduled for the show’s “How-To” Feature Stage in the North Hall.
The former Northern Virginia resident will host a “tell-all” session on “Today’s Top Design Trends from the Runway to the Home” Friday, 4 p.m. and Saturday, 3 p.m., while dispensing one-of-a-kind advice for those trying not to break the bank with “Design on a Budget,” Friday, 7 p.m. and again Saturday, 1 p.m. Vern will end each session with a “meet and greet” where fans can ask questions, pose for photos and request an autograph.
From the classroom to the design world, Vern has harmoniously married his educational background – he holds bachelor degrees in economics and chemistry from the University of Virginia and master degrees in business administration and architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology – to his flair for creativity and design with his successful Atlanta, Ga.-based firm, Vern Yip Designs. His Web site, www.vernyip.com, provides design tips and advice, and features top quality products, designed by Vern with consumer value in mind, for sale.
Whoever thought combining chemical compounds would match up to mixing colors on one of the most, popular “how-to” cable TV shows? But coloring is what Vern does right. Vern adds warmth to any room with an extra touch to make it “pop” simply by using everyday, common colors in unique ways.
His design prowess and national exposure have afforded the opportunity to take his skills online with digital home makeovers through AOL and offline by promoting the designs of Stainmaster carpet, Moen faucets, Procter & Gamble’s Bella & Birch Division, as well the integration of high-end electronics through Best Buy’s Magnolia store concept.
