Foreign Construction Workers Kidnapped In Nigeria

hree foreign construction workers have been kidnapped in two separate attacks in southern Nigeria, media reports quoting sources of police and diplomats.

A Dutch security manager at the construction yard of the German building contractor Bilfinger Berger in Port Harcourt and in another incident, two workers were taken from a construction site in neighboring Delta State.

Sources from a joint military force tasked with policing the Niger Delta, has been reportedly said troops had been deployed to hunt for the kidnappers who seized the Dutchman. Kidnapping is becoming frequent in the region. It was just over two months ago when gunmen attacked a boat traveling between Port Harcourt and the oil-and-gas terminal at Bonny, killing a Dutch national. About 60 foreign nationals, mostly from the oil industry, have been kidnapped in Nigeria so far in the year.
