Alternative Construction Company Forms the Future of Building Institute
May 10th, 2007 - Posted in Building Construction, General NewsAlternative Construction Company, Inc. announced the formation of the Future of Building Institute, Inc. (FBII), a non-profit organization currently being formed for the purposes of attracting and combining
Mr. A.J. Francel, President of FBII, stated, “We are interested in achieving total housing solutions. For years, the economics of housing have looked at mortgage costs, maintenance costs, insurance costs and utility costs separately. Our goal is to use many of the developing or available technologies and combine them in a way that provides long term economic benefits, lessens the monthly out-of-pocket expense of living, improves the quality of living, while minimizing the burden on Earth’s natural resources. We are inviting all to submit their technology for consideration.”
ACCY manufactures insulated, highly energy-efficient, disaster tolerant and extremely fast and easy to work with building systems that replace wood or bricks in the construction of the structure itself. ACCY products are sustainable, recyclable, utilize no timber in manufacturing, do not “off-gas” and provide excellent long term value. With ACCY’s ACTech Panel(TM) as the foundation, the Future of Building Institute intends to combine integrated solar electric and solar thermal systems, wind generators, high efficiency lighting and several off-the-shelf products to achieve total building solutions with significant economic benefits.
Michael Hawkins, the CEO of ACCY, stated, “One of the few places where technology advances have not provided efficiency or cost benefits to consumers, is in the construction industry. Our goals are to develop ‘zero- energy’ housing, improve safety and security through structural strength, improve indoor air and acoustic quality, lessen our dependency on foreign oil, and reduce the monthly cost of living. We feel we have the means and the mandate to achieve this on a global basis.”
The FBII will solicit certain nominees of the ACCY Advisory Board, which includes distinguished International Government officials, noted environmentalists, Earth stewards, journalists, celebrities, global financiers, construction experts, engineers, and noted US politicians, to participate in the management of the Institute.
“As the architects of our future, we need to build with the environment and future of buildings in mind with its emphasis on research, innovation, and environmental sustainability. The FBII provides a timely and important step in this direction,” stated Dr. Noel Brown, former Director of the United Nations Environmental Programme.
The FBII will commence its efforts immediately.
Alternative Construction Company, Inc. (ACC) possesses a unique and patented construction technology called the ACTech Panel(TM) System that is used in the design and production of state-of-the-art buildings in commercial, residential, industrial and modular building applications. Generically known as structural insulated panels (SIPs), ACC’s revolutionary, viable and efficient construction solution utilizes an inherently better galvanized steel “skin” SIP system to complete energy efficient, stronger, safer, faster, and more economical structure than conventional wood and brick based building products. Patented ACC SIPs are environmentally-friendly and easier to construct with — not only saving labor cost and cutting construction time, but also reducing recurring monthly heating and cooling energy bills by 30-50% and often more. Most importantly, ACC SIPs possess disaster tolerant strength and have tested stronger than conventional concrete block or wood frame construction. In hurricane projectile tests, the ACTech Panel(TM) System has proved to meet or surpass the most stringent wind, projectile and uplift codes in the nation levied by the 2006 Florida Building Code. The ACTech Panel(TM) System offers builders and consumers many competitive and comparative advantages of use due to its wide range of attributes. As this new construction technology gains awareness or hurricane- and tornado-prone states establish new building codes and rebuild from recent weather disasters, ACC believes its products will be in greater demand.
