City works to clean up former Construction Machinery site

The city is preparing to sink another $375,000 into cleaning up the former Construction Machinery Co. site.
Waterloo City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a contract for that amount with Environmark Corp. of Davenport to complete remediating underground contamination at the former manufacturer at Vinton and Glenwood streets.

Construction spending plunged in July

Construction activity plunged in July by the biggest amount in six months as spending on homes fell for a record 17th straight month.
The Commerce Department reported Tuesday that construction spending dropped 0.4 percent in July, compared with June, the weakest showing since a 0.6 percent fall in January.

Jacobs Gets Roadway Widening and Reconstruction Contract From Georgia Dept. of Transport

Construction services provider Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said Wednesday it received a contract to widen and reconstruct two roadway sections north of Atlanta.
